Tips for Better Portraits

Get plenty of sleep; it shows if you don’t.

You can bring your own “props” (basketball, flowers, pet, or with your car) to personalize
your portraits if you wish.

Hair: Try to schedule haircuts 2 weeks prior to our session. Any style that suits you. Bring your
stylist if you wish. Please use hair spray or gel to keep frizzy hair under control. Men should try to
avoid a “five-o’clock shadow” by bringing an electric razor if necessary.

Clothing: Bring a few changes of clothing. Clothing may be casual, semi-formal, or formal and should
reflect each individuals tastes. Try to avoid busy patterns such as stripes and bright red colors.
Solid tones produce a neat appearance. Clothing below the waist should be darker than above.
Senior portraits are even more about individual taste, so bring your favorite clothes.

Makeup: If you can, wear water-based makeup, and use no more than normal. I can apply digital
touch ups on minor blemishes. Please try to avoid sunburns.

Eyeglasses: Avoid wearing glasses if you can, especially tinted ones. Or removing the lenses temporally
can reduce glare. If your eyeglasses are a part of your distinction, you may keep them on.

Schedule early for best selection of day and time. Please call of any special needs or
requests, I am more than happy to accommodate you.

Having to re-photograph a session do to anything
on this list will have a substantial fee. If you don’t get
enough sleep, or things don’t seem to be going right on the
day we photograph, you may reschedule, but please call as
soon as possible with your request.

Jessi Olson's Bio
Since High School, I've been photographing friends and family mostly as
a hobby. I decided to make a career out of it and attended Spokane Falls Community College
where I achieved my AAS degree in photography in 2006.  I just recently moved back to
Mountain Home in 2009.  Right now I have a full time job at a restraunt
and I’m actively trying to build up my portfolio by photographing weddings and
senior portraits part-time.  I love weddings the most.  I try to capture and
document the emotions and the unique beauty of your day.
